I’m currently waiting for the typeset and proofread version of my second novel ‘Payback’ to be returned by my proof reader, before I have a (hopefully) last read through it myself, prior to publishing. So far so good, but the thing is: I can’t seem to concentrate on anything else until it’s done and dusted.
I have a rough outline in my head for the third book in the series, and I’m itching to get started on actually writing it, but I can’t. You’d think I’d be able to get started while waiting for the proof reader to do her work on ‘Payback’ – but I can’t! It was the same while I was waiting for my first draft of the manuscript to be independently assessed and the same again when my final draft was off for copy-editing.
I have come to the conclusion that, for me at least, it’s just impossible to immerse oneself in two different stories simultaneously. Maybe it’s a man/woman thing – they do say women are much better at multi-tasking – or maybe it’s just that we’re all different? Are there other authors out there who suffer the same affliction?
Anyway, the waiting will be over soon and then I’ll be able to get started on my third book. Meanwhile, I have at least thought of a title: ‘Chinese Whispers’.
I’ll post again when Payback is published and perhaps say a little more about ‘Chinese Whispers’.
